Sweeper Cover-front copy

The cocky footballer next door has some serious game…luckily, Daphney Clarke knows how to play.

Zander Williams is the hot new American determined to take European football by storm. His head is so big, it barely fits under his backwards hat. And when he’s recruited to one of the biggest up and coming clubs in London, he’s certain to make his name known.

Managing the building where they live is only one of Daphney’s many jobs. It’s why she has zero patience for the obnoxious American on the other side of the wall who makes the most ungodly noises and likes to answer his door in nothing but a pink tea towel.

Tensions build and after one steamy hallway kiss, neighbor wars quickly shifts into neighbors-with-benefits and that’s a battle they both intend to win.

But Daphney doesn’t know the real reason Zander is in London and now she’s stuck in the middle of a game she didn’t even know she was playing.

★★★★★ Sweeper is undoubtedly a top 2021 read. A captivating blend of searing chemistry, a charming alpha hero, an exceptionally witty heroine, amusing banter, bursting with emotion, laughter, giggles, heartbreak tears, happiness tears, and steam, inside a world that has become a fictional home, with a family that has embedded themselves in my soul. Their love shines through you long after you reach the end. -Goodreads Reviewer

“Boop, boop, boop,” a deep voice echoes much too close to my face, and my eyes fly open in terror as I catch sight of Zander Williams’s finger by my nose.

“What are you doing?” I exclaim, scrambling up off my sofa and standing behind the arm of it to put some space between us. I hold my chunky blanket out in front of me like it’s somehow going to protect me from the psychopath currently standing in my flat.

Zander holds his hands up defensively, his eyes wide. “I didn’t mean to scare you!”

I blink back at him as my sleep-fogged mind clears, and I take in the surroundings of my flat. I reach up and touch my nose. “Did you just touch my nose?”

“I booped it.” An awkward smile spreads across his face as he grips the back of his neck. “You were sleeping so cutely. I thought it’d be a funny way to wake you up.”

“Funny?” I repeat, forking my fingers into my messy bun and glancing down to make sure I wasn’t having another wardrobe malfunction in front of him. “You thought it would be funny to break into my flat and touch me?”

His face falls. “Well, when you put it like that, it sounds creepy.”

“This is a disaster,” I groan and turn to prop my elbows on the bar. “Can I get another champagne, please?”

Dean sidles up next to me as the bartender fills my glass. “What’s up, sugar? I think your dad likes me.”

I pin him with a warning look. “If you add tits to the end of that sugar, your balls must have a death wish.”

“Why so cheery?” Dean asks, hunching over the bar to sip his brown liquor out of a rocks glass. “Did your mother give you a puppy again? That Elaine.”

“My mother invited Nathaniel here tonight,” I state flatly.

“The perfect teeth guy?”

“Yes.”

“So, what’s the big deal?”

I pin him with an accusing look. “She gave him the impression I was here for him. Like I was some lonely sack who couldn’t get a date even if I wanted to. Jesus, this is embarrassing.”

“Relax.” Dean turns to face the party and rests his elbows behind him like he doesn’t have a care in the world. “We’ll just have to break some of your rules.”

“What do you mean?” I grab a nut from the bowl on the bar and chew on it nervously.

“Well, if you want this guy to steer clear, then a little PDA might be in order.”

“What kind of PDA?” If he says kissing, I’ll spontaneously combust.

Dean seems to read my mind and rolls his eyes. “Relax, sugar cake, I mean a little…affection. Maybe we dance. Maybe I put my arms around your waist or play with your hair a little. Or maybe we get practically pornographic, and I waffle your fingers.” He laughs casually. “Something to show your mother this Nate guy doesn’t have a chance.”

I nod thoughtfully as I process what Dean’s just said. He mentioned touching me so casually like it’s no big deal. I suppose it isn’t since he seems to flirt with anything that walks. But I’ve been out of the game for a while now, and I can count on one hand the number of people I’ve been affectionate with, and even those were years ago. Is this really something I can pull off?

“Norah, drink the rest of that champagne. It’s going to be fine.”

I close my eyes, letting his words sink in while feeling anything but fine. “Okay, just promise you won’t try to kiss me. I’m barely holding it together as it is, and if I have to worry about you breaking the ultimate rule, I won’t survive this night.” I tip the rest of the champagne into my mouth.

“Relax, I won’t tongue thrust you in front of all your parents’ friends. I’m a mountain manwhore, but I draw the line at lip raping.”

As the only survivor of a rare birth, Reyna Miracle has never felt like she belonged. When a horrible tragedy strikes during her graduate courses at Oxford, she spirals down a dark and sexy path with Hayden, her deceased best friend’s brother. But when Liam Darby, a mistake from her past reappears, Reyna’s world begins to crumble as the two men fight for a love that she can’t even accept for herself.

And now…an EXCLUSIVE excerpt from That One Moment!

CHAPTER 3: HAYDEN
THE BABY WHISPERER

Sprawled out on the long grey couch in my brother’s flat, I flick mindlessly through the channels on the telly trying to stop myself from going upstairs to help my brother’s fiancé, Leslie. The baby has been crying for fifteen minutes straight, but Leslie made me promise to back off and stop helping so much.

“You’re not going to live here forever, Hayden. Theo and I have to figure this out on our own. She’s fine crying for a few moments.”

My jaw clenches as I stare at the clock, watching each passing moment that I’m forced to sit here and listen to my niece’s desperate cries. I unsnap and re-snap the brown leather cuffs on my wrists to try to distract myself. She wants me…I know it. I can feel it for Christ’s sake. She’s the most gorgeous and the most colicky baby you’ll ever meet, but for some reason she likes me.

“Colicky,” I huff. What an odd word for a single, twenty-six-year-old male to know. But fuck, I couldn’t not read the baby books Leslie and Theo had lying around. Especially when I bloody well live with them and hear that poor child wailing every single night. The five S’s are like the bible around here. Swaddle, side, shush, swing, and suck. No five tips have ever helped a family more, I assure you.

I glance down at my watch for the fourth time in the last three minutes and see it tick over to 11:11. I pinch my eyes shut and exhale a wish for luck. A wish for a time machine. A wish for change.

Finally, as if Leslie could hear my silent pleas, her head pops up over the cast iron railing that looks down on the sunken living room. Her face looks flushed and she is near tears. Without hesitation, I spring up and take the steps two at a time all the way to her and my brother’s loft bedroom.

“She doesn’t even like the football hold right now. I’ve rubbed her tummy, but she’s not gassy. I thought if I could strap her to me while I got ready, she’d settle down…but she won’t. She’s tired…I know she is. She just won’t fall asleep.” Leslie’s voice cracks at the end.

“I wish you’d stop fighting my help,” I say, scooping up a besotted three-month-old Baby Marisa off the bed. I tuck her into that perfect place between my shoulder and neck where my voice can tunnel right into her ear. Then I begin shushing her loudly while I swoosh from side to side in short, fast spurts. Her tiny, rigid frame instantly relaxes. A few more loud puffs of air later and her wails morph from battle cries into the cry that sounds more like she’s saying, “It’s about bloody time you got here, Uncle Hayden. Mum’s been messing about with me for ages.”

Her cries continue to calm as I swing. She doesn’t like to be bounced. Everybody wants to bounce her, but it just pisses her off more. I peek at our reflection in the long horizontal mirror on the side wall between the bedroom and the large en suite bathroom. Marisa’s eyes look dazed and heavy now. She’s seconds away from falling asleep.

“Hayden, you freaking British baby whisperer,” Leslie gripes in her distinct American accent.

“She was going to crash any second. You almost had her. This is just luck.”

She drops down onto the bed and pushes her auburn hair back from her face. “It’s not luck, Hay. You have the touch. Jeez, I don’t know what we’d do without you here.”

I huff out an incredulous laugh at that preposterous notion. She’s got no clue how much they help me a thousand times more than I could ever help them. She saved my fucking life for Christ’s sake. Yet I know that Doc is right…There is more to the world outside this flat.

I pause as I hear a soft snore coming from beside my ear and glance at the mirror to find Marisa out cold. I smile triumphantly and turn her to show Leslie.

Her face splits into a grin as she thrusts her hands into the air and does a hilarious silent scream with a little wiggly butt dance. My chest rumbles with laughter as she flops herself back onto the bed and lets out a huge sigh.

After a moment, she sits up and has a serious look upon her face. “Hayden, I know tonight is your big night and you probably have like a trillion things on your mind…but is there any way you could hold her for a while so I can make some calls and take a shower?”

“It’s a tough job, but I think I might just be man enough to do it,” I say with a wink. “Don’t tell my brother, though. He’ll thump me if he knows he missed out on cuddle time again.”

Leslie smiles in a quiet way she only ever does when she thinks of my brother. “He’s hauling the last furniture pieces for the auction over to the ballroom now. He should be back any second and you shall be relieved.”

“No worries. There’s an old football game on downstairs. I’ve got this,” I said, lifting my eyebrows and glancing down at the limp, pink, perfect bundle against my chest.

Leslie smiles affectionately at Marisa before she turns her twinkling green eyes on me. “Thank you, Hayden.”

I head downstairs thinking about how lucky my brother is to have a woman like Leslie. I’ll be proud to call her my official sister after their wedding. Resuming my place on the couch, I allow the slow, rhythmic breaths of Marisa to calm my nerves over what I’m about to do this evening.

The truth is I’ve wanted to hold Marisa all day. She is my moment in reality that reminds me there are bigger struggles happening in this world than my own. And that there are people who need me, even if they are only thirteen pounds. This perfect, fussy baby has become my safety net. My anchor. Holding her against my heart reminds me exactly why I need to always keep it beating.

If you haven’t read Not The One yet, I highly suggest you do that. That One Moment does work as a standalone, it’s been tested and approved, but I think it’s a more enjoyable experience after Not The One.

A few people have asked me what other books of mine to read while they wait. I think London Bound is cool to read because that is Theo and Leslie’s love story and they play an important role in Hayden’s life, but it’s certainly not necessary. Only if you’re looking for something to pass the time. 😉

In the mean time, let’s having fun counting down the days until Hayden!!!

The follow up book to Not The One: Hayden’s Story
Not The One – Released Dec 7, 2015
As the only survivor of a rare birth, Reyna Miracle has never felt like she belonged. When a horrible tragedy strikes during her graduate courses at Oxford, she spirals down a dark and sexy path with Hayden, her deceased best friend’s brother. But when Liam Darby, a mistake from her past reappears, Reyna’s world begins to crumble as the two men fight for a love that she can’t even accept for herself.
Q: Talk to me about your cover! Who designed it?

A: I did! I do all my own covers actually. And the photographer is my sister-in-law. And the models are just some people we know! Neither are professional models and that is one of my most favorite things about all of my covers. I joke because the guy on the cover is my best friend’s brother and she loves my books. I was afraid putting him on the cover would lose me a fan! LOL. But she says she’s still 100% reading it and just planning to visualize her own Hayden and most certainly not her brother! HA!

Q: Who is Hayden?

A: Hayden Clarke…sigh. I think I fell in love with him more than I thought possible during the process of writing this book. Hayden was sort of the broken anti-hero of my last release, Not The One. And he’s by far my most requested book to date. The hype for his story has been intense. Readers need his HEA and I seriously can barely speak of the story to them without squealing. He’s wormed his way into my heart and I hope I did this magnificent man justice or my readers will have my hide!

Q: What can you tell us about That One Moment?

A: Well, the story starts exactly one year after a pretty intense day for Hayden in Not The One, so I really dig where he’s at mentally throughout the whole book. He’s still dealing with a lot of what he went through, but you get glimpses of some normalcy for him, so you get to know the TRUE Hayden…who is hot…and a bit of a freak between the sheets! ☺

Q: Is it a sexy romance?

A: Yes, but it’s a slow burn, which is different for me…but it had to be for Hayden. He needs to take his time and not rush into anything or it wouldn’t be believe or smart.

Q: Okay, be honest…you’re known for feeding on the tears of your readers. How many boxes of tissues should they have on hand?

A: A lot. LOL. I mean…I don’t know how they expect me to write Hayden’s story without some emotion. But I think they’ll be surprised at how much they smile too. Hayden isn’t all dark and gloomy. He’s sexy and funny and all man. This won’t just be a cry-fest. I promise!

Q: Can That One Moment be read as a standalone?

A: Yes! I’m happy to tell you, yes. It has been tested and approved. There’s no cliffy. It’s solid on it’s own. Though I do think readers will enjoy it more if they read Not The One first. And Not The One is officially book 1 in my Lost in London Series with That One Moment being book 2. If they really want more backstory on some secondary characters, they should check out my London Lovers Series too. I love my little London family over there!

Q: What’s next?

A: More books! I have some secret projects I’m working on. One is another series entirely and another is the third book to the Lost in London Series that I can’t tell you about yet! ☺

Q: Is it Frank? It has to be the fantastic gay ginger’s turn for a story, right?

A: It’s not Frank…not yet. I’m not closing the door on that bloke, but he’s gotta be patient. Saving the best for last!

Q: Why oh why are you releasing one week early on iBooks and torturing all of us Kindle readers?

A: LOL! I’m sorry! I have a great iBooks family over there and they are wonderful to work with. I will have preorder links for all retailers up soon though, I promise.

Q: Okay fine…I’ll just be patient then. Thanks for stopping by.

A: Thanks for having me!!!

It all started with a Midwest girl named Finley who has an epic, emotional meltdown and decides to flee the country to live with her best friend Leslie overseas. Now, it has evolved into a dynamic cast of unique, lovable, and sexy characters. The London Lovers Series gave us a doorway into the world of love across the pond in a place I fondly call London Bloody England! But what one may have not known was that this series would give birth to a new spin off series for me.

You recall the ever-so-steamy cover and even hotter story of Reyna Miracle called Not The One. Liv-Review TeaseWell, this story featured some of the London Lovers cast, but stood proudly on it’s own as a standalone. And towards the end, a certain sinfully sexy man had his heart broken on a park bench over-looking the River Thames.

Well, I am pleased to announce that Hayden Clarke will be getting his own story in a book called That One Moment and will be officially be Book 2 in a new series called Lost in London! Here’s a little sample of the highly anticipated story of the beloved Hayden.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00009]

Meet ivy league socialite, Leo Richards, and struggling ballerina, Adeline Parker, in this NYC angsty, emotional page-turner.

synopsis

POINTE
Getting screwed over backstage by my married-ex tears my heart into a million tiny pieces.
Sitting in the audience at the ballet with my former fling wasn’t my idea of fun.

I live in my pointe shoes, not even my ex can taint my love for ballet.
I hate the ballet. This on again/off again crap was getting old.

And then my whole world changes when I notice the smoldering gaze…
Then I look to the stage, and I can’t take my eyes off…

OF…
Leo Richards.
Adeline Parker.

Concentrating on anything except his sexy…everything, is impossible.
Her presence commands my attention…I’ve never experienced this before.

He makes me second-guess everything I’ve ever dreamed about.
She makes me question everything I’ve ever known.

Fighting him is a strategic sport—no clothes allowed.
All I can think about are her sexy ballerina legs wrapped around me—tutu definitely on.

BREAKING
Our scandalous rendezvous is plastered all over NYC’s tabloids.
Because of my status in Manhattan, now I’ve dragged her into the limelight.

My ex will stop at nothing to tear us apart.
Seriously powerful people forbid me to be with her.

Rumors about his past keep building.
I can’t tell her this secret.

When it came to Leo, I only knew the big things.
When it came to Adeline, I knew nothing about the little things.

But uncovering those things about him [her] may push us past our breaking point.

“You know you can stay here no matter what right? That this, between us, whatever it is, that’s not why I invited you to live here.”

I nod, and press myself against him, eager for a return of the sensations his kiss had brought in the hospital. I wanted to explore and delight in this aspect of being a human, so different from the cold, perfunctory interactions of merfolk.

“Thank God.” He cups his fingers around my face and takes possession of my mouth again.

I melt into him, awash with new sensation as he presses me into the countertop. The hand on my face wanders into my hair and the slope of my neck. My own fingers flex and dig into the warmth of his chest and that simmering heat that is becoming my constant companion in his presence flares to life and consumes me.

I’m burning from the inside out. I’m lost in his touch and fairly vibrating with desire although I can’t pin down what my body is crying out for. He breaks away from my mouth and skims his across my cheek, his moist breath dancing on my sensitive skin as he explores my neck. I moan and follow his example, wanting to leave him full of the same feelings. My lips move over his jaw, sucking and nipping lightly. The saltiness of his skin makes my pulse race with familiarity. My fingers drift over his chest of their own accord, tracing the lines of his muscles, absorbing the heat seeping from him. It is as if he is my own personal sun.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00008]
My name is Reyna Miracle.
Even though a part of my name is Miracle, there’s nothing miraculous about me.
My body portrays the tales of my life.
Every feeling, every heartbreak, every emotion.
Marked. Inked. Stained.
A walking canvas of my messed up truth.

But there’s one confession I can’t put in a tattoo.
A confession that will kill me to tell, but my best friend died before I had the chance.

Now I’m left with him.
The only one who can hold me in the night and squeeze that spot on my neck that feels like my lifeline between sanity and chaos.

But we don’t work together.
We’re absolute poison for each other.
We’re a stifling, suffocating, sickness of darkness.

But I feel safe…because I’ve made an art of pushing people away.

Now he’s pushing back…
And making me believe…
Making me wonder…
Maybe, just maybe…
I could be the one.

Q&A Session with Myself

Banner

So today kicks off my blog tour of Not The One. A blog tour is when people post their reviews of my book baby and bash my heart into a million pieces.
Sometimes. Not always. 😉
So far, reviews for Not The One have been pretty awesome. My best ever, as a matter of fact. And even if they do trash my book baby, I can handle it. After co-writing a ballerina novel with the one and only, Sarah J. Pepper, I can withstand the worst types of torture.

Anyways, when I send out information to blog for tours, I have to include promo materials like teasers, excerpts, trailers, rap videos, etc. I even have to include a Q&A session so they can post that along with their review posts. So today, I thought I’d share a special, exclusive interview with you all…that I did with myself.

Q: Self, why don’t you wear makeup very much anymore? You see us in the mirror, right?
A: OMG, Self…I know! We’re hideous aren’t we? The truth is…I practically eat, sleep, and dream book world now and makeup just seems like a time suck. Just last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and checked my book ranks and my husband rolled over and told me that I needed help. <shrugs shoulders>

Q: Okay Self, I forgive you…but, seriously…what inspired this sadistic, dark, tear-fest of a book? Did you kick puppies as a child?
A: Aw, self! Such sweet words! You shouldn’t have! 🙂 I did not kick puppies as a child. Nor are there any puppies getting kicked in this story! Not The One isn’t sadistic, it’s just a journey to finding the light and finding your own ‘happy’. It’s not easy for everyone and Reyna had to have some crazy twists before she could catch her own HEA. Honestly, Rey was a very small character in my London Lovers Series that seemed way cooler and more bad-ass than me. The “Miracle” aspect of her middle name was something I thought I could connect to from my own life. My own daughter is a miracle baby and I thought about what it would be like if I constantly smothered her and put her on a pedestal just because of her existence.

Q: Self, do you always pull from your own life for your books? I mean, we are pretty awesome.
A: That we are…and we’ve definitely found our own ‘happy’. 🙂 I really love to put a personal piece of myself in all of my stories if I can. Something I can connect to on a real and deep level. I think it helps the believability factor in my books.

Q: Self, do you ever wish you could go back to reading only?
A: All the dang time, Self. Writing can be a painful, grueling process. And the work is endless. But man, finishing a book is still an all time high for me. And I’ve had so many awesome experiences because of this epic book world.

Q: Self, readers keep yelling at you for making them cry…why do you do that? Just stop it!

A: Never!!!! You know Self…first of all, your skin is looking pretty rough today. Maybe we should stop using body lotion on our face? …anyways, back to your question. Why do I make people cry? I don’t know! It just flows out of me that way. Getting down and dirty and deep and sad with my characters just takes me on an emotional journey I guess. I like making readers cry. I want it to happen! But honestly, you should see what a wreck I am when I’m writing those sad parts. I lost a ‘G’ with this book. Like literally…I lost the button G on my lap top. It still works though.

Q: Self, who the heck is Frank? And how did you create him? Frank
A: Frank is a fantastical, redheaded, gay Brit in several of my London Lovers novels, including Not The One. I mean, really, how much more amazingness can you pack into one character? Frank’s visual appearance was inspired by a guy I creeped on while I was eating lunch at a pizza place once. The dude was wearing a lot of denim, had crazy red hair…and boom…writing explosion! I just knew I had to make this guy into a character. I wish I could find him and tell him what a remarkable inspiration he was. Everybody needs a Frank and Beans in their life.

Q: Will he get a story?
A: Let me be “frank” when I tell you…it is a distinct possibility. 😉

Q: Self…what kind of torture are you putting us through next?
A: Welp, the readers have spoken and everyone wants a Hayden story. I’m hoping for a Spring release date!

Self…you’re pretty.
Self…you’re not so bad yourself.
