If you’ve ever listened to one of my audiobooks and thought, “Wow, this feels like a whole cinematic experience,” you’re not wrong. Audio is its own kind of magic, and the narrators who bring my characters to life are the wizards behind it all.
Over the years, I’ve had the absolute joy (and the total privilege) of working with some of the most talented and in-demand narrators in the business. And if you’ve hung around my corner of the romance world for more than five minutes, you already know the names Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon are basically tattooed on my heart at this point.
1. Teddy Hamilton is Somehow Every Hero I’ve Ever Written
Let me just say it: Teddy does things with a mic that should be illegal.
Every time he signs on to narrate another one of my heroes—whether he’s an arrogant dick of a doctor or a possessive mountain man fighting his feelings—I know listeners are going to be holding on tight and sighing as they tune in to every single chapter.
He embodies my heroes with this perfect blend of charm, grit, warmth, and “oh-no-I-should-not-be-feeling-this-strongly-about-an-audiobook” energy. And the way he shifts tones and softens…it’s like he climbs inside my characters’ heads and sets up camp.
I’ve hired him again and again for a reason: nobody does an Amy Daws American hero quite like Teddy Hamilton.
2. Erin Mallon Gets my Weird Humor
Erin Mallon is pure narration joy.
My heroines are messy, real, insecure, hopeful, snarky, occasionally unhinged, and always full of heart—and Erin captures every single layer. Whether she’s voicing a woman who cannot stop overthinking, one who’s slipping into a laugh-sob spiral, or one who’s falling in love despite herself, Erin nails it every time.
She doesn’t just read the words. She feels them. And listeners feel that too.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it forever: Erin Mallon is a gift to romance. I will happily hire her on repeat until she gets sick of me (which, fingers crossed, is never).
3. I Started Duet Narration Before It Became Trendy…All Because of a Narrator Named Will Watt
British narrator Will Watt is a voice actor I met in my early days of audiobook production. We initially crossed paths when I was looking for someone to voice my beloved British football-playing Harris Brothers Series. Will suggested doing duet narration with his pal, Charlotte Cole, and a ten-book, duet-narrated universe was born!
Will Watt and Charlotte Cole are the essence of my Harris Brothers Series, and we did some really fun video interviews years ago to teach everyone about how duet narration works. I truly cherish these two creatives and am so grateful to have their work on my books.
4. Dual, Duet & Multicast Narration = Peak Romance Experiences
Nothing makes me happier than giving readers (and listeners!) the lush, fully immersive experience of hearing a book brought to life. That’s why most of my audiobooks are dual, duet or multicast productions!
There’s something absolutely electric about hearing the grumpy hero in conversation with a sunshine-or-sarcasm queen who upends his life…or feeling the push-pull chemistry crackling between them in real time! But it’s also incredible to hear what these narrators can do voicing the opposite sex. I appreciate all narration types, so I’m happy I can offer a variety to my listeners.
5. Narrators Add New Dimensions to My Books
I write the characters.
I hear their voices in my head.
But narrators? They elevate them in a way that written words just can’t.
Sometimes they deliver a line in a way that makes me laugh harder than I did while writing it. Sometimes they break my heart. Sometimes they make a spicy scene…well…even spicier.
Narrators aren’t just performers — they’re storytellers, collaborators, and world-builders. They bring nuance, energy, rhythm, and emotion to places on the page where readers might have sped past without realizing what they missed.
6. I’m Not the Only One Obsessed — Readers Feel It, Too
I get messages constantly from listeners saying things like:
“Teddy Hamilton has ruined me for all other male narrators.”
“Erin Mallon IS this heroine.”
“This multicast feels like a movie in my ears.”
Trust me, I hear you, and I feel the exact same way!
When I find narrators who understand my worlds and love my characters as much as I do, I want to keep working with them—forever and ever, amen.
Why I’ll Keep Choosing These Narrators Again (and Again…and Again)
At the end of the day, the reason I return to Teddy Hamilton, Erin Mallon, and my other powerhouse narrators is simple:
They get it.
They get the humor.
They get the heart.
They get the emotional whiplash I love writing.
They get the spice.
And most importantly…they get what YOU, the listener, wants and loves.
My goal is always to create an experience that feels immersive, emotional, hilarious, and a teensy bit blush-inducing. With narrators like these, that experience comes alive far beyond the page!
